Proponents of TND have revived the old practice of multiple steps at
every entrance,
at a time in history
when that is singularly inappropriate. The older demographic
is mushrooming, younger people with
disabilities are living much longer than in
past decades, and all have
increased intentions to participate in community. To
reverse
its negative social effects, TND must stop relying on steps to signal a
traditional aesthetic and begin routinely to implement solutions like
those above.
